An electronic ankle monitor helped Coral Springs police identify an 18-year-old man accused of taking part in the robbery of a FedEx driver on Oct. 3, according to a police arrest report.

Omani Nickoy Prince, of Tamarac, faces a strong-armed robbery charge. Police said two men confronted the driver while she was delivering a package in the 2600 block of Northwest 106th Drive. Prince allegedly insisted the package was his, even though he was told it was addressed to someone else.

When the driver returned to her truck, the second suspect followed her, forced his way inside and struggled with her over the package. She fell from the truck to the ground, and he took the package from her hands, police said. Prince stayed nearby and watched before leaving in a vehicle with the other man.

The driver told detectives she remembered Prince wearing a monitoring device on his ankle. Investigators said monitoring records placed him near the scene. They also reviewed license plate reader data, Ring doorbell video and footage from the FedEx truck.

Authorities arrested Prince on Oct. 9 in Lauderhill. He was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and initially held without bond. The report does not say whether the second suspect is in custody.
