Two adoptable pets at Broward County Animal Care in Fort Lauderdale are looking for new homes. Gatsby, a 9-year-old domestic shorthair, and Polo, a 13-year-old Chihuahua-dachshund mix, both have warm, easygoing personalities, according to the shelter.

Gatsby was adopted from the shelter as a kitten but came back recently as an owner surrender. The 12-pound neutered male likes being petted under his chin and answers with gentle headbutts and purrs. Animal Care said he could suit someone looking for a lap cat.

Polo, who weighs 20 pounds, is neutered, housebroken and walks well on a leash. He likes relaxing on the couch but still has a playful streak. Staff also said he tolerates dressing up in outfits and cozy sweaters.

Both pets are available at the shelter, 2400 SW 42nd St., Fort Lauderdale. Adoption hours run 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Adopted animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and adopters pay $25 for the Broward County registration tag.

Gatsby’s animal identification number is A1909700, and Polo’s is A1860957. Residents can see them and other animals at Broward.org/Animal.
