Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported eight people to hospitals after an inbound flight to Miami International Airport encountered turbulence early Friday, according to MDFR officials.
7News cameras captured paramedics wheeling one of the patients into Jackson Memorial Hospital shortly after daybreak. Investigators said the passengers were hurt when the plane hit turbulence in the air.
Some patients went to the main Jackson Memorial campus. As of 5 a.m., one had been taken to the Ryder Trauma Center, the agency said. The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
The source of the flight and the severity of the injuries remain unclear. 7News has asked MDFR and MIA for more information, and the station said it will update the story as details become available.
