The Friends of the Underline launched the second round of its Park Stewards jobs program on the morning of Oct. 13, with more than two dozen clients from the Chapman Partnership signed up for the next year.

The launch took place on the Underline across from the Novotel Miami Brickell Hotel at 1500 SW First Ave. The program is designed to help participants move toward self-sufficiency and rely less on social services.

Park Stewards is funded by $300,000 in grants from Lennar and Bank of America Miami. It is a workforce development program aimed at connecting homeless individuals with regular employment and steady income.

In the first year, several participants went on to full-time jobs with the Underline’s Clean Team, according to the organization.
