The South Florida Youth Symphony will host its Liberty Gala on Nov. 21 at the Miami Shores Country Club, 10000 Biscayne Blvd. The fundraiser marks the nation’s 250th birthday, and attendees are being asked to wear patriotic attire. The cocktail hour starts at 6:30 p.m.

The evening will honor Dr. Daniel Andai, an SFYS alumnus who now serves as dean of the Music Division at the New World School of the Arts in Miami and as concertmaster of the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Marjorie Hahn, the organization’s executive and music director, said his early training with the group, alongside his two brothers, has special meaning for the region.

Entertainment will come from Jennings & Keller and the Magic City Jazztet. Tickets cost $150 per person and include an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and a three-course meal. Sponsorships are offered at the Prelude ($1,500), Intermezzo ($2,500) and Fortissimo ($5,000) levels, with the Fortissimo package including a table for 10 and a private concert.

Proceeds support the group’s music programs. The symphony, which is celebrating its 62nd year, draws most of its students from underserved areas of North Miami-Dade and South Broward counties. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased through the group’s Givebutter page or by calling 305-962-2079.
