Heavy rain and severe weather have forced closures, early dismissals and delayed trash pickup across a wide stretch of Palm Beach County, and the impact reaches into St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties, according to WPBF 25 News.

In Jupiter, all athletic fields and Cinquez Dog Park are closed. Palm Beach Gardens has several services and city facilities closed for the day. Riviera Beach declared a state of emergency because of the weather. In West Palm Beach, Oxbridge Academy closed its campus due to continued heavy rainfall, and more rain was expected.

Palm Beach County Public Schools dismissed students one hour early and canceled all after-school activities, including ROAR Academy Aftercare. The county tax collector’s office closed at 2 p.m. Area Regional Transit suspended service, and waste collection may be delayed.

In Fort Pierce, city parks, recreation facilities and beach access points are closed. The Vero Beach landfill closed at 1 p.m., and all five Customer Convenience Centers remain closed. Outdoor afterschool activities are canceled in the district, though Extended Day will continue as scheduled.

Brightline has temporarily suspended service between Orlando and West Palm Beach because of high water on the rail corridor in Brevard County.

Residents should check with their schools, cities and waste haulers before heading out, since closures and schedules may change as conditions shift.
