Anton Lundell scored a hat trick, Seth Jones finished October with a franchise-record number of points for a Florida defenseman, and the Florida Panthers beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 on Friday night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.

Jones had two goals and 16 assists in October, 18 points in all, breaking the mark Keith Yandle set with 17 points in March 2018. Sam Reinhart also scored for Florida, which has won six of its last eight games.

Lundell’s third goal came into an empty net with 1:39 left. Akira Schmid made 22 saves. Kyle Connor scored Winnipeg’s team-best 11th goal, and Morgan Barron added his first of the season in the third period. The Jets have gone 0-6-2 over their last eight games and lost both games of a home-and-home series with Florida this week.

The Panthers remain without Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand, who are both injured. Coach Paul Maurice said Marchand could return in about three weeks and Barkov in about four. Florida had played only three home games this season, the fewest in the NHL entering Friday.

Florida hosts Detroit on Monday night. Winnipeg plays at Carolina on Sunday.
