A new Halloween amusement park called Sounds of Screams has opened at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo Center, offering five haunted houses, a carnival midway and live shows for visitors ahead of All Hallows’ Eve.
Co-owner Osmel Nieves said the team has been running haunted houses since they were 12 years old and called the project a long-time dream. He described the atmosphere as similar to a Disney or Universal experience, something he said Miami has not had before.
The park is laid out so the Midway is separate from the horror attractions. Visitors can eat at food stands and watch performances on the stage without going through the scare areas. Guests 21 and older can buy drinks at bars throughout the park.
Nieves said staff train for three months before they work the floor. He said no one touches guests inside the haunted houses and that about 400 cameras monitor the attractions. Guests who are frightened at first, he said, often switch to laughter after the first house.
The park is a good option for families and adults looking for a Halloween night out in South Florida.
