Miami New Times has published a guide to 13 tattoo shops in Miami, listed alphabetically, aimed at readers who want to get inked with a friend or family member. The magazine says about one-third of the population now has permanent body art.
The list spans a wide range of styles. Amen Miami, inside the Miami International Merchandise Mart at 777 NW 72nd Ave., opened in 2025 and requires a $50 deposit for most appointments. Chapel Tattoos on Washington Avenue in South Beach accepts walk-ins and has operated for 11 years. Iris Tattoo & Piercing, at 133 NW 26th St., began in Buenos Aires in 2013 and opened in Miami in 2015. Love Hate Tattoos, the Miami Beach studio featured on TLC’s “Miami Ink,” has been open 22 years.
Other shops on the list include Black Nova Tattoo Co., Easy Peasy Tattoo, Great Oak Tattoo, Kasa Tatu and Ocho Placas Tattoo Company, which has operated for 25 years and is attached to a coffee shop. Many of the shops work by appointment, and hours and booking methods vary. Readers should check each shop’s website or social media page before visiting.
For South Florida readers, the guide offers a starting point for people shopping for an artist, with pricing details for some shops, including a $150 minimum at Black Nova and starting prices of $100 for mini flash pieces at Iris.
