Twelve Palm Beach School District schools made the top 100 public K-8 schools in Florida in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings, released last week. Six are elementary schools and six are middle schools. Charter schools are not included in the rankings.
The state-level rankings weigh four measures equally, at 25% each: math proficiency, math performance, reading proficiency and reading performance. The K-8 schools are listed in the middle school category. Earlier this year in August, five Palm Beach County high schools also earned top 100 spots statewide.
Lincoln Park Academy, a public magnet high school in Fort Pierce, was the only school on the Treasure Coast or in Okeechobee County to rank in the top 100, at No. 83.
Superintendent Mike Burke said in a news release that the results reflect the work of teachers, school leaders, staff, students and families. The district is rated “A” and “Academically High-Performing.”
The rankings are searchable by state, district, grade level and ZIP code on the U.S. News website. Private schools can be searched there too, but they are not ranked.
Palm Beach County voters will also decide a referendum on the Nov. 3 ballot to renew the 1 Mill for Schools, which charges $1 for every $1,000 of taxable home value. The district says the money funds an average annual teacher salary boost of $8,000 and 900 teacher positions.
