Coral Springs commissioners gave City Manager Catherine Givens and City Attorney John Hearn “exceeds expectations” ratings in their annual evaluations on Oct. 7.
Givens received praise for steering the city through the death of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen and other difficult situations. Commissioner Joshua Simmons said he was impressed by how she handles hard problems and leads a city government with more than 900 employees. Mayor Scott Brook said she has exceeded his expectations. Commissioner Shawn Cerra said the commission made a good decision in hiring her and that she has kept a positive culture among city workers.
Givens credited senior city staff for their work and for making Coral Springs a pleasant place to work.
Hearn also earned an “exceeds expectations” rating. Brook said he trusts and values the legal advice Hearn gives city leaders. Cerra called Hearn a great city attorney and said he has been impressed with his work.
