The Veterans Networking Alliance will honor police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency workers with its seventh annual National First Responders Day Salute on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The event is a vehicle parade that runs between Tamarac and Coral Springs.
The lineup starts at 11 a.m. at Tamarac City Hall, 7536 NW 88th Ave. Vehicles leave Tamarac by 11:25 a.m. and resume in Coral Springs at 11:45 a.m. from the backstage parking lot of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, near Fire Station 80 at 2825 Coral Springs Drive. The procession ends at noon at the Coral Springs Police Department, 2801 Coral Springs Drive.
Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook, Tamarac Mayor Michelle Gomez and Parkland Mayor Richard Walker are among the community leaders invited to take part.
Residents and veterans who are not driving in the parade can watch from the Tamarac Police Department by 11 a.m. or from the Coral Springs Police Department by 11:40 a.m.
Drivers must register in advance and reach Tamarac City Hall between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. Vehicles must be decorated and in line by 11 a.m. Organizers said travel between the two cities along Pine Island Road and Coral Springs Drive is not part of the official parade, so drivers should follow all traffic laws.
