Miami Beach police arrested a 57-year-old man on Sunday, accusing him of burglarizing two restaurants two weeks apart. Investigators say Kevin Reilly, who was experiencing homelessness, was found on the beach early that morning. Police released body camera video of the arrest Tuesday night.

Police say Reilly broke into 7TYONE Restaurant & Coffee Bar on Normandy Drive in the early hours of Oct. 16 and took about $500. Owner Liliana Arguinzones shared surveillance footage and cellphone video showing her shattered door and the rock police say was used to get inside. She said the intruder was in and out in about 26 seconds.

Police spokesperson Christopher Bess said officers tied that case to an Oct. 2 burglary at Big Joe Smash Burgers on Collins Avenue. In that break-in, police say the suspect forcibly removed a lockbox and used tools to take a cash register, with about $1,000 in cash missing. Officers also matched the same backpack in footage from both burglaries.

Bess said Reilly has an extensive criminal record. He remained in custody Tuesday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday.

Arguinzones said the break-in has left her on edge. “Now I’m feeling unsafe all the time,” she said.
