Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz and Republican former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer met in Boca Raton as the race for Florida’s 25th Congressional District nears Election Day. The candidate forum at Congregation B’nai Israel drew residents who wanted to hear where each candidate stands.

Israel and efforts to combat antisemitism were major themes. Both candidates said they support Israel and discussed foreign policy. The forum also covered Cuba policy, homeowners insurance, housing costs and border security.

Moskowitz said he has taken legislative action on homeowners insurance and called himself “proud to be known as the most pro-Israel Jewish Democrat in Congress.” He also pointed to bipartisan work and efforts to lower costs for families, including healthcare and housing.

Singer pointed to his time as mayor, saying he helped cut crime and bring high-paying jobs to the city. He called for lower taxes, stronger border enforcement and support for U.S. and allied military action. He told the audience voters should want “someone with community roots, with sensible solutions.”

The district now runs from Delray Beach into Miami-Dade County, which expanded the group of voters both candidates are trying to reach. The two are scheduled to meet again next Tuesday at the Miami Beach JCC.
