Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami will host the third annual “Sprint for Seniors” Bed Race on Friday, Nov. 6, as part of Homeless Awareness Day 2026. The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust organizes the event, and MDC hosts it on Kyriakides Plaza at 300 NE 2nd Avenue.
Thirty teams made up of college students, professionals, community groups and seniors will push decorated, wheeled beds in a race along the plaza. Organizers encourage participants to be creative and have fun while raising money for a cause.
The Homeless Trust said one in four people entering the county’s homeless system is over 55, making older adults the fastest-growing homeless group in Miami-Dade. Proceeds will go to the Ending Homelessness Fund, which helps unhoused seniors get through hard times and move toward stable housing and care.
Registration is open through Oct. 31 or until all spots are filled. Sprint for Seniors is one of dozens of Homeless Awareness Day events across Miami-Dade County, which the trust describes as the nation’s largest single-day community initiative on homelessness.
