Three South Dade mayors are nearing the end of their time in office because of term limits, and they used the moment to look back on their service. Community Newspapers reporter Michael Miller interviewed Tim Meerbott of the Town of Cutler Bay, Karyn Cunningham of Palmetto Bay and Joe Corradino of the Village of Pinecrest in a special conversation published Oct. 19.

The mayors talked about how they first got into public service and local government. They also recalled memorable moments from their terms and the challenges that come with running a municipality. Changes they have seen in their communities over the years were part of the discussion, along with what they expect to do next and what lies ahead for the towns and village they led.

The interview comes as each town prepares to hand leadership to new officials. For residents of Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest, the conversation offers a look at the priorities and experiences that shaped local government in those communities as the transition approaches.
