Zelenskyy accuses Putin of seeking endless war as Trump tensions grow

Zelenskyy blamed Russia for a fresh round of missile and drone strikes and disputed Trump's claim that Ukraine does not want to end the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that Russia launched another night of missile and drone strikes on his country, and that Ukraine received no warning from its partners. The strikes targeted energy and other infrastructure, he said, and also hit a medical clinic, a school, a metro station and residential buildings.

Zelenskyy has accused the United States of limiting intelligence and possibly other assistance to Ukraine. The accusation comes as tensions rise with President Trump, who said over the weekend that Zelenskyy does not want to end the war. In a Truth Social post, Trump said Zelenskyy “probably never did.”

The Trump administration denies changing the intelligence it shares with Ukraine or deliberately slowing Starshield, a military version of Starlink satellite service that Ukrainian forces use to shoot down Russian drones. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Saturday that the slowdown “sort of happened” and that service has been restored. Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in Washington said it has not received confirmation from the Pentagon or SpaceX.

Trump has also eased some sanctions on Russia, including allowing Russian energy sales in an effort to lower U.S. gas prices. Zelenskyy said those moves risk emboldening Moscow.

The Kremlin said Monday that Moscow values U.S. mediation but that no agreement is possible without Kyiv at the table. The Wall Street Journal reported that Putin proposed a U.S., Chinese and Russian summit on the war without Ukraine.
