Federal, state and local public safety agencies met to lay out their plans for the G20 summit at Trump National Doral in December. The Secret Service is leading the security effort, working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the FBI.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles said agencies are sharing intelligence in real time and that there are no actionable or credible threats toward the summit.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and the Doral Police Department said daily life will be disrupted for residents on Dec. 14 and 15. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the G20 presents security challenges that go well beyond those of a major sporting event, with a operation extending far past the venue.
Doral Police Chief Matt Castillo recommended that businesses offer flexible schedules, consider remote work and limit deliveries on those two days. Officials did not release protective measures or motorcade routes, but residents should expect many road closures in Doral.
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga said protesters will have designated zones and their First Amendment rights will be protected, while Castillo said violence and property destruction will not be tolerated. Fraga also said nearby schools may be affected.
The summit is expected to draw delegations, senior government officials and media from around the world.
