Monarch High School has introduced Mitch Rodriguez as its new varsity baseball coach. The school announced the hire in a news release shared with Coconut Creek Talk, and the coverage includes a photo of Rodriguez with Warren Saunders.

Rodriguez, who was born and raised in Coral Springs, said he has lived in Coconut Creek for many years. “To be able to make an impact in the community that I’ve called home for a while now is an honor to me,” he said.

Rodriguez has played baseball since age four. He pitched at Dean College in Massachusetts, where his team won a district championship and was ranked among the top 25 nationally in NJCAA Division II. He later spent a year coaching at Lynn University and has also coached at Highlands Christian Academy and, most recently, Piper High School. He brings nearly a decade of travel baseball coaching experience to Monarch.

Rodriguez is also a third-generation public servant. He takes over a Knights program that has regularly reached the playoffs but won only four games in its most recent season.
