A West Palm Beach man has been convicted of first-degree premeditated murder in the January 2023 shooting death of a bicyclist, while the case against his co-defendant ended in a mistrial. The verdict came Friday, according to WPBF 25 News.
The jury convicted Rigoberto Eusebio Duval, 37, of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jurors could not reach a unanimous decision on Devontae Colbert, 31, also of West Palm Beach.
Circuit Court Judge Scott Suskauer set Duval’s sentencing for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Colbert has a status hearing scheduled for Oct. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
The victim, Edmund Glover, 34, was riding his bicycle early on Jan. 9, 2023, in the 1700 block of North Congress Avenue at the Presidential Golfview condominiums. Investigators said he was shot multiple times just after pulling into the complex. Officers found him on the pavement after several 911 calls.
Surveillance video showed Colbert and Duval in a white Toyota waiting for Glover to get home, police said. Investigators also said the pair were seen on video watching officers work the scene hours later. Deputies found a 9mm casing in the driveway beside Duval’s vehicle.
Duval fled to Panama after a warrant was served and was arrested in May 2023 during a traffic stop while riding in a ride-share car. Colbert fled Georgia and turned himself in at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center in June 2023. Both men are convicted felons and known gang members, and the U.S. Marshals Service and other agencies helped with the search.
