A routine traffic stop in Coral Springs led to a strangulation arrest on October 3, after a passenger told police the driver had given them a false name and had choked her unconscious.

According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, an officer saw the vehicle roll through a stop sign as it left the Wawa at 7305 West Sample Road. The stop took place near West Sample Road and Woodside Drive. The driver, identified in the report as Rocco J. Panaro, 41, told the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license and gave the name “Jonathan Walters.” A records search using that name returned no valid results.
