A married couple has taken over Sunshine State Dry Cleaners at University Commons Plaza in Tamarac, and they celebrated the change with a ribbon-cutting on October 17. The event was hosted by the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and drew members of the Tamarac commission.

Christopher Hirsch and Sabrina Chebana bought the business, which had been operating for many years. Hirsch said the goal is to serve the community and provide the best service possible. The shop offers a wide range of clothing care services.

Chebana said the couple wants to build good relationships with customers. Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton encouraged residents to visit the shop, calling it an awesome business for the city. Mayor Michelle J. Gomez said she hopes the new owners succeed.

The dry cleaner sits next to The New Jewelry Exchange, which held its own ribbon-cutting just before. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and a social gathering.

Sunshine State Dry Cleaners is at 6734 North University Drive. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
