A cold front crossing South Florida on Sunday is bringing showers and very windy conditions, according to WSVN 7News. The heaviest rain was expected early in the morning, especially along the coast and in the Keys, with rain chances dropping during the afternoon.

Occasional quick showers are still likely through the day. Northeast winds could gust between 30 and 40 mph, making it feel even colder and rawer outside, the forecast said.

The wind is expected to be the main story for the rest of the week. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are forecast through Wednesday, with occasional showers coming off the Atlantic. Winds may ease later in the week, but it will still be breezy, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 70s.

Forecasters also are watching a hybrid low off the U.S. East Coast that could take on some tropical characteristics. Regardless of development, the system is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion to the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic. The next name on the Atlantic list is Josephine.
