The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Saturday for parts of Broward County as rain moved across South Florida. The warning covers Coral Springs, Parkland, Lakeview, Deerfield Beach, Margate and Coconut Creek.

The alert remains in effect until 5:15 p.m. Eastern Time, according to the NWS Miami office, which posted the notice on social media.

Flash flooding can develop quickly when heavy rain falls over already saturated or low-lying ground. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and never drive through standing water. Residents in the affected areas should monitor local forecasts and be ready to move to higher ground if water begins to rise.
