Tamarac comedian Cindy-Ann Boisson will close her “Red Woman” tour with a show on Dec. 13 at the Fort Lauderdale Improv in Dania Beach. The performance starts at 6:30 p.m. and draws on her breast cancer diagnosis, her double mastectomy and the emotional toll that followed.
Boisson, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, said her medical history began with the removal of a duct papilloma in 2020. A September 2025 biopsy found abnormal cells in her left breast. After a lumpectomy that December, doctors found abnormal cells remained at the edges of the removed tissue, and she chose a double mastectomy over additional surgery and treatment options.
She credits early detection with saving her life, but said she was not prepared for the mental and emotional strain. “Storytelling is my way of healing and offloading,” she said. “Many survivors don’t have the support they need. I hope this show brings some levity to those who need it.”
The tour’s title comes from Caribbean slang. In Trinidad and Tobago, a “red woman” describes a lighter-skinned Black woman with a fiery personality and a mischievous streak.
A portion of the proceeds will go to The Academy of Heart and Mind, which supports mental health services for people with a cancer diagnosis. The rest will help cover Boisson’s ongoing medical bills.
Tickets start at $25 and are available at improvftl.com. The Fort Lauderdale Improv is at 177 N. Pointe Drive in Dania Beach.
