South Florida can expect numerous showers and storms Saturday ahead of the first big fall front of the season, according to WSVN 7News. The storms could produce heavy downpours and flash flooding, and forecasters advised residents to have an indoor backup plan.
The front is forecast to clear the area Sunday morning. Morning rain should still be likely, but the heaviest rain is expected to shift south into the Keys by Sunday afternoon.
Don’t expect a real change in temperatures locally. The sunshine and cooler air will stay north of Lake Okeechobee, while South Florida remains in the 80s during the day and the 70s overnight.
Winds will pick up behind the front early to middle of next week, with gusts of 30 to 40 mph expected off the Atlantic. Rain chances will drop, but daily coastal showers are forecast to continue through the end of the week.
The National Hurricane Center has no tropical development expected in the Atlantic over the next seven days, the station reported.
