Fort Lauderdale firefighters put out a fire that broke out inside an apartment off 18th Court on Friday. No one was hurt.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to the building, according to the department’s report. Officials said a pot on the stove caused the blaze. Firefighters brought the flames under control quickly.

Two dogs were inside the home at the time. Both were unharmed.

Cooking is one of the most common causes of home fires in the United States, and fire officials often urge residents to stay in the kitchen while food is heating and to keep cooking areas clear of anything that can catch fire.
