A 21-year-old Boca Raton woman faces misdemeanor charges after police say she knocked a city road sign onto several lanes of Dixie Highway with her white Porsche early Sunday, then drove away.

Officers on patrol found the sign and scattered car parts around 4:24 a.m. at Dixie Highway and Palmetto Park Road. Debris included a driver-side fog light, a piece of white front bumper and a trim piece bearing the Porsche name. A part number pointed investigators to a Porsche Macan, and a witness told officers he saw a white Porsche hit the sign and keep going. A police report cited by BocaNewsNow.com estimates the damage at about $500.

Police later found a matching Macan in the drive-thru at the Taco Bell at 1361 W. Palmetto Park Road. According to the arrest report, the driver, Elizabeth Kincaid Beck, twice tried to walk away after officers told her she was not free to leave. She was handcuffed. Police said she repeatedly asked to be released, denied knowing what officers were talking about and declined to give her name, though she confirmed she was the only driver.

Officers wrote that Beck told them on the way to booking that she “did not know we were serious before” and that she had “just hydroplaned.” She is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and resisting an officer without violence. Arrest records list her as a Florida Atlantic University student.

The charges are allegations, and Beck is presumed innocent unless a court finds otherwise.
