South Florida should see mostly blue skies and sunshine on Friday, Oct. 16, with only a few pop-up showers possible along the Glades later in the afternoon, according to the CBS News Miami NEXT Weather Team.
The weather turns wet over the weekend. A boundary front moving across the state will bring about three days of intense rain, arriving Saturday and moving through Sunday. Widespread rain and storms are expected Saturday, and forecasters say Sunday will be even wetter.
The Sunday system carries a Level 1 flash flood threat. Forecasters expect several inches of rain over the next week, which could help ease drought conditions that still persist in Miami-Dade County.
Weekend plans could be affected. Walkers taking part in the More Than Pink Walk on Saturday morning at the fairgrounds should bring a rain jacket. Tailgaters heading to the Hurricanes versus Florida State game at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday should also prepare for storms and heavy rain before and during kickoff.
Rain intensifies on Sunday, and drier conditions are expected to return midweek.
