South Florida gets a muggy Friday with scattered showers, and a stronger weather system is on the way for the weekend, according to WSVN 7News meteorologist Erika Delgado.

Highs will reach the upper 80s, and some spots could hit 90 degrees. Feels-like temperatures could climb into the upper 90s to near 100 in some areas, especially during the morning and evening hours. Showers and perhaps some inland storms are possible as winds ease.

The bigger change arrives Saturday. A strong front is forecast to cross the state and reach South Florida during the day. Saturday morning should be warm and mostly dry, but showers and storms are expected to develop in the afternoon and push toward the East Coast metro area, possibly lingering into the evening.

The front is expected to clear the region Sunday, but rain at times and very windy conditions are likely that day. Delgado said the wind will stay strong through at least the first half of the workweek, though drier and nicer conditions could follow once the front moves out.

Residents planning outdoor activities for the weekend should keep rain gear handy.
