The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled nightly lane and ramp closures on state highways in Davie and surrounding areas of Broward County through Oct. 29. Weather may push back milling, resurfacing and striping work.
On I-595, crews are repaving and restriping the highway and State Road 84 from I-75 to I-95, including the Express Lanes. Westbound I-595 at University Drive and the University Drive entrance ramp to westbound I-595 are fully closed on select nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday, Oct. 15. The entrance ramp closes again from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. Several westbound lanes between Davie Road and SW 136th Avenue will close overnight on select nights through late October, and all Express Lanes will close on select nights through Oct. 21, with a backup date of Oct. 22.
At the I-75 interchange with Royal Palm Boulevard, one lane may close nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, as needed. The I-75 southbound exit ramp to westbound Royal Palm Boulevard will close from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, for mast arm installation. Drivers will be detoured through Griffin Road and Weston Road. Oct. 29 is the backup night.
On University Drive, one or two northbound lanes between SW 24th Street and the I-595 entrance ramp may close nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, as needed, for the State Road 817 improvements project.
Several westbound I-595 lanes between University Drive and Florida’s Turnpike also close nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. through Oct. 16. Drivers who commute through the corridor should allow extra time and check the FDOT lane closure site before heading out.
