Nick Coppola has picked up endorsements from the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association, Delray Beach Firefighters IAFF Local 1842 and the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council Voters Alliance in his campaign for Delray Beach City Commission Seat 3. All three groups backed him in 2024, when he lost to Juli Casale.

Craig Mahoney, president of the firefighters local, said Coppola has the temperament and experience to help restore civility on the dais. John Kazanjian, president of the police association, asked members, their families and residents who support strong law enforcement to vote for Coppola.

The seat is open because Casale is running for mayor against incumbent Tom Carney. Coppola, a union electrician and electrical contractor, has raised $30,000 in his first two months as a candidate, and he is considered the front-runner. Gregory Snyder has also opened an account for the seat, according to the City Clerk.

Coppola lists street improvements, neighborhood safety and the cost of living as his priorities. He also wants the city to finish the police headquarters, Pompey Park and the water treatment plant. Voters approved a $100 million public safety bond in 2023, mostly for a police headquarters that has not been built. The Pompey Park rebuild has a guaranteed maximum price of $59.19 million, and the water plant that broke ground in January is expected to cost about $287 million.

Qualifying for the nonpartisan race runs from Nov. 2 to Nov. 20, and the election is March 9, 2027.
