Carrot Express is now just Carrot. The Miami-based healthy-eating chain dropped “Express” from its name, a change owner Mario Laufer said better fits the restaurant it has become.
Laufer said customers had already been shortening the name, asking friends to “grab Carrot,” so the company decided to adopt it. He also said “express” sounded rushed and stressful, while the restaurants have always focused on made-to-order food.
The chain began in 2012 as a lunch counter inside a Texaco gas station on Alton Road. Laufer first tried healthy, affordable food in 1993 with Gourmet Carrot on West Flagler Street. Carrot now has 32 locations, including a second Brickell restaurant at 1057 Brickell Plaza and its sixth New York City location on the Upper West Side.
The newest Brickell West restaurant has a refreshed look, with warm wood finishes, terracotta tones and greenery. The brand also introduced its first kids’ menu, which includes crispy chicken bowls, mini tuna melts and chicken-and-cheese quesadillas.
Menus, online ordering and a full list of locations are available at carrotexpress.com. The brand now uses the handle @EatatCarrot on Instagram.
