A man barricaded himself inside a Weston home Thursday morning, prompting a response from Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and a SWAT team. The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the situation was safely resolved Thursday afternoon.

Deputies were called to a home in the 1600 block of Southwest 5th Court around 8:45 a.m. to investigate a disturbance report. When investigators arrived and tried to contact the man, he retreated inside and barricaded the door, the agency said.

Officers blocked off roads in the area as a precaution. Neighbors and passersby saw a heavy law enforcement presence, and a woman was heard yelling “My son, my son” in Spanish. Deputies could be heard asking the man to come out of the home with his hands up.

The sheriff’s office has not said what kind of disturbance was first reported. The agency did not immediately release details about the man or any charges.
