Investigators are looking into how apparent human remains ended up in a wooded area in Miami after a fire call led crews to the site.
Miami Fire Rescue units responded to the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 36th Street after receiving a report of a fire. While firefighters were working to put it out, they found what appeared to be human bones.
The Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and confirmed that the burned bone fragments are human remains.
Officials said early information suggests the remains may belong to someone who died some time ago. The source report did not give a specific date of death, the victim’s identity or a cause of death.
Police and fire officials have not released further details about the circumstances of the discovery. Residents in the area can expect continued activity while the investigation continues, and WSVN said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
