The City of Boca Raton has added a set of new public art installations to Wildflower Park as part of its Centennial celebration. The projects are presented through Public Art Boca, together with Creos and Palm Beach County.
The most visible piece is a series of mosaic murals on the park’s restroom building by artist Laura Tanner. The panels use oars, rafts, bicycles and native fruits to trace the city’s story, from its farming roots to its growth as a coastal destination. Tanner also redesigned the splash pad, with an abstract pattern inspired by the sunrise at nearby South Beach Park.
Creos returned to the park with its “Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0” swings, open-frame structures painted in the city’s four Centennial colors. Meanwhile, beneath the Palmetto Park Road Bridge, just east of Wildflower Park, artist Nadia Serenyi painted four columns that show ocean life, native plants and coastal scenes. The bridge murals form a link between Wildflower Park and Silver Palm Park.
Both parks reopened in 2022 after a multi-million-dollar renovation tied to the city’s Waterfront Master Plan. Wildflower Park also has a sculpture on loan from the Boca Raton Museum of Art.
Wildflower Park is at 551 E. Palmetto Park Road, and Silver Palm Park is at 600 E. Palmetto Park Road. More information about the Centennial is available at Boca100.com.
