The Florida Department of Education has named 45 schools in the School District of Palm Beach County as 2026 “School of Excellence” winners, the district announced Oct. 15.

The designation goes to schools that rank in the 80th percentile or higher among their peers statewide for at least two of the last three school years. Elementary, middle, high and combination schools are all eligible. The district, which holds an “A” rating from the state, said the honor reflects consistent performance rather than a single strong year.

Superintendent Mike Burke praised students, families, teachers, support staff and school leaders for the results. He said families do not need to look outside the public system for a strong education.

The district also pointed to teacher pay. Educators at the 45 schools, and across the district, receive an annual salary boost averaging $8,000 through the 1 Mill for Schools, according to the district. That tax, first approved by voters in 2018 and renewed in 2022, funds 900 teacher positions and supports student safety. A question on continuing it appears on the Nov. 2026 general election ballot.

Families can enroll at a neighborhood school, apply to any district school with open seats, or apply for more than 330 specialized choice programs. Information is available at PalmBeachSchools.org/Enroll or by calling 561-434-8197.
