Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz and Republican challenger Scott Singer are competing in the 2026 midterm election for a U.S. House seat that voters in South Florida will decide on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Boca Raton Tribune published a voter guide comparing the two candidates’ backgrounds and positions.
Moskowitz, who has served in Congress since January 2023, previously sat in the Florida House, served on the Parkland City Commission and led the state’s Division of Emergency Management under Gov. Ron DeSantis. He points to that emergency management work in his focus on hurricane preparedness and disaster aid. He also backs lower household costs, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and expanding access to health care.
Singer, a Republican, was mayor of Boca Raton and completed his final term in 2026. He campaigns on lower taxes, economic growth, public safety, border security and reduced government spending, and he has supported working with President Donald Trump’s agenda. He has also called for congressional term limits.
The two differ sharply on health care and immigration. Moskowitz has supported strengthening the Affordable Care Act and has backed Medicare for All, while Singer opposes proposals to eliminate private insurance. On abortion, Moskowitz opposes Florida’s restrictions. The guide said voters should review Singer’s current statements on reproductive-rights policy.
Florida’s 2026 redistricting changed some district boundaries, so the guide urges voters to confirm their congressional district before Election Day. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting runs Oct. 24 through Oct. 31, and the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot was Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. The voter registration deadline has passed.
