A Miami Beach family is speaking out after three men tried to break into parked luxury cars in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon, and failed because the doors were locked.

The break-in attempts happened near the 3400 block of Chase Avenue. Neighbors alerted the family, which then checked its security cameras. Footage obtained by 7News shows three men in hoods and masks running onto the property and trying to force their way into the vehicles. The family’s Mercedes Maybach and white Lincoln were among the targets.

A neighboring home was also targeted. Surveillance video from that household shows the same group checking whether car doors would open before leaving in a maroon Tesla.

The mother, who did not want to be identified, said the timing worried her most. Her four young children were at school, but she said the family is often coming and going during the day. She said her family had never experienced anything like it in broad daylight.

Miami Beach police said the incident shows the value of locking vehicle doors, a practice the department regularly urges. Spokesperson Christopher Bess said detectives are working to hold those responsible accountable. 7News has reported several luxury car burglaries on the beach in recent years, including a 2025 case that used a similar method.

Anyone with information can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Tips can be anonymous, and a reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
