The City of Tamarac is collecting gently used sneakers in a drive that supports Good Karma Pet Rescue, according to a city Instagram post. Mayor Michelle J. Gomez partnered with the rescue group on the effort.
Residents can drop off sneakers of any size or brand at City Hall, the Tamarac Recreation Center, the Tamarac Community Center or the Caporella Aquatic Center. The donations are meant to raise money to care for homeless dogs and cats waiting for adoption.
The city asks that only sneakers be donated. Dress shoes, flip-flops and Crocs are not accepted. The post did not list a collection end date.
