A major stretch of South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach is scheduled to close Friday, Oct. 16, starting at 5 a.m. The closure runs between South County Road and Southern Boulevard, also known as State Road A1A, and will stay in place until further notice, according to the Town of Palm Beach’s website.

Town officials said drivers can find details on traffic checkpoints, changes to bridge-opening schedules and temporary marine security zones on the town’s Planned Traffic Impacts webpage.

The closure coincides with a Temporary Flight Restriction for VIP movement in the West Palm Beach area issued by federal aviation officials. The restriction takes effect Saturday, Oct. 17, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 18.

Similar road and airspace restrictions have been put in place before when former President Donald Trump visited his Mar-a-Lago residence. Neither the town nor federal authorities have confirmed whether Trump will be in Palm Beach this weekend.

Drivers who commute through the area should plan ahead and expect delays around the closure.
