The Monarch High School Army JROTC mixed team took second place overall among mixed teams at the second Raider meet of the season, held Saturday, Oct. 10, at Everglades High School.
The Monarch Knights earned second place in the 5K run and in the cross-country rescue event. They finished third in the tire flip, according to Senior Army Instructor John Acevedo.
The school’s female team competed in its first event after only two weeks of practice together. Acevedo said the team did well for a first meet and praised the students as “young warriors.”
The results add to a strong showing for the Coconut Creek school’s military program, which competes in timed physical events against other high school teams across the region.
