The Town of Davie has extended its Free Tree Giveaway, offering one fruit or native tree per household to town residents only. Pre-registration and a tree species choice are required in advance, and supplies are limited.
Available species include American beautyberry, tropical sage, Simpson’s stopper, Jamaican caper, citrus (lemon or lime), avocado and mango. Trees will be handed out Thursday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Pre-registered residents will receive the exact pickup location by notification. Bring proof of Davie residency, such as a utility bill, a TRIM notice or a government-issued ID. The town will verify registrations before distribution.
Pickup is a drive-thru process. Staff will load trees directly into vehicles, so drivers do not need to park or get out, but they should confirm there is room for the plant. Most trees come in 3-gallon pots, while tropical sage comes in 1-gallon pots, and sizes may vary. Residents who already received a tree at the Gardens Matter Day event may register again for a second tree.
Questions can go to Leona Henry at 954-797-1035 or lhenry@davie-fl.gov. Registration is online at davie-fl.gov/FreeTree.
