A recent cold front has pushed drier and more pleasant weather across South Florida, with plenty of sunshine on Tuesday. Northeast winds have taken some of the heat out of the air, though it remains warm. Showers have been mostly limited to areas north and east of the region, with downpours reported from the northwest Bahamas into the Florida Straits.

Wednesday should look much like Tuesday, but the wind is expected to shift more out of the east. Stray showers could drift in off the ocean at times. The bigger change comes Thursday, when more moisture is forecast to move into the region.

Rain chances are expected to climb toward the end of the week, with occasional heavy downpours possible. Humidity will also rise, making conditions feel steamy.

The weekend forecast is less certain. Another weak front is expected to slow and stall over central and south Florida, and forecasters said its exact position will determine the weekend weather. Rain appears likely, and a change in pressure could bring stronger winds. Those gusts may create marine hazards, including rip currents, for beachgoers and boaters.
