Inspectors ordered four South Florida restaurants shut in early October after finding rodent droppings, flying insects and food held at unsafe temperatures, according to Local 10 News’ weekly Dirty Dining list.

At Miami Crab & Seafood Bakery in Miami Gardens, inspectors counted more than 100 rodent droppings across several areas, including places where single-service items, flour, sugar and seasonings were kept. They also found rodent bait on the floor outside a covered, tamper-resistant station. The restaurant was ordered shut Oct. 12.

Keke’s Breakfast Cafe in Parkland was closed Oct. 12 after inspectors saw about 45 small flying insects landing on clean utensils and equipment near the dishwashing area. Inspectors also cited an employee who handled soiled items and then prepared food without washing hands.

Miami Shores Golf Club, on Biscayne Boulevard, was closed Oct. 9 following a complaint. Inspectors reported rodent droppings on top of clean dishes and in a dry storage area. Mahi-mahi and salmon were held at 53 and 58 degrees, well above the 41-degree limit.

China Spring III in Coral Springs was closed Oct. 8. Inspectors found rodent droppings under prep tables and near food containers, a dead roach in the prep area and raw eggs stored over cooked chicken. The operator removed the eggs and stored them properly, the report said.

Each restaurant must pass a follow-up inspection before it can reopen.
