Westminster Christian School hosted the fifth annual Pink Girls Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club. Thirteen South Florida high school girls golf programs took part, each sending five players and its coaching staff.

Ransom Everglades School won the team championship. Nina Fischer of Ransom Everglades earned medalist honors with a round of 4 under par.

The tournament raises money for local women’s cancer treatment, care and research, and it gives student-athletes a competitive FHSAA event. Organizers timed it to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and players and coaches wore pink throughout the day.

Coach Paul Magalian, Westminster’s girls varsity golf coach and the tournament director, said the event teaches players that their talent can help people in their community. Title sponsor Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club and several presenting sponsors supported the event.

Organizers have not released a final fundraising total. The tournament has raised more than $10,000 for local women’s cancer care in its first four years, according to the school.
