Sony Pictures Entertainment is holding free advance screenings of the comedy-drama “Klara and the Sun” in Miami-Dade County later this month. Passes are first come, first served.
The Miami screening is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at AMC 24 Sunset Place, 5701 Sunset Drive, in South Miami. The Aventura screening is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at AMC 24 in Aventura Mall, 19501 Biscayne Blvd.
Attendees can take a free printed photo strip at a photo booth before the film. A DIY bookmark station lets guests decorate a custom bookmark. Organizers suggest arriving at least an hour early, since more passes are issued than seats because some ticket holders do not show up.
The film is based on the novel by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro and was written and directed by Taika Waititi. It follows Klara, an Artificial Friend played by Jenna Ortega, who searches for the right home and forms a bond with a girl named Josie, played by Mia Tharia. Amy Adams plays Josie’s mother.
