Democrat David Silvers raised and spent far more than Republican Rick Roth in the race for Senate District 26 in Palm Beach County during August and September, according to campaign finance reports covered by Florida Politics. Both candidates are former state representatives, and the seat opens this year because term limits force out Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman.

From Aug. 1 through Oct. 2, Silvers added more than $121,000 and spent close to $206,000, mostly on TV and digital ads. Roth raised $2,000 and spent about $130,500, with more than half going to advertising. As of Oct. 3, Silvers held roughly $201,500 across his campaign account and political committee. Roth had about $51,500.

Silvers’ donors included law firms, medical and insurance groups, and Publix Super Markets, which gave $15,000. He also received $28,000 in in-kind research support from the Florida Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. Roth’s money came mostly from agricultural donors, and he spent heavily on a media ad buy and consulting.

The district covers a southern slice of Palm Beach County, including Belle Glade, Wellington, Delray Beach, Highland Beach and part of Boca Raton. The general election is Nov. 3.
