A 63-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after he was struck by a boat propeller in Norris Cut, near Fisher Island Marina in Miami Beach, on Sunday morning.

Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the man was one of three adults aboard a 17.5-foot vessel. He was swimming in the water when the propeller hit him, according to authorities.

His condition is not known. The FWC has not released further details about how the incident happened, and the investigation is ongoing.

Norris Cut is a busy boating channel between Fisher Island and Miami Beach, so boaters and swimmers in the area should keep a close watch on vessel traffic.
