Pembroke Park Mayor Geoffrey Jacobs testified Monday in Broward County court that he still lives in the town, rejecting a bid by the town commission to remove him from office over a home he bought in Fort Pierce.
The commission says Jacobs gave up his right to hold the seat he has held since 2019 when he and his wife bought the Fort Pierce property in 2024. Town Attorney Michael Garcia said public records show Jacobs intended to move permanently. Those records include a veterans loan, homestead exemptions and the transfer of his vehicles to the new address, according to town officials.
Jacobs’s attorney, Michael Pizzi, argued the mayor has lived in Pembroke Park for 10 years. Under questioning, Jacobs said his primary residence is a mobile home at 3120 W. Hallandale Blvd. He said he sleeps there and keeps his clothes there.
Jacobs said he bought the Fort Pierce home for his wife and children because of safety concerns. He said the family had been harassed by a convicted murderer who threw feces at his home.
Jacobs is known for an outspoken and sometimes combative style that has drawn controversy in the past. The judge is expected to rule next week.
